Court has asked protestors to file their demands within the petition and go back to work/hospitals within 3 days. when asked if the judge himself was willing to go and adress the students to have faith in judiciary, the judge said "no."

when asked that suppose the findings are in our favour, then what would we do if govt later passes another amendment to get around the findings, the court said "that is a right of the parliament".

Fucked up govt is using court against us. If court says that "it is a right of the parliament" then we can prefer to go on strike as it is also our right. The apex court is nothing but a dummy thing in the country. There is no use of the SC. It passes decisions, gives judgements only to be overthrown unanimously by the Parliament by making an amendment in the constitution. The executive powers of the law, vested in the president also dont seem to be of any effect. Today only, the parliament shamelessly sent the office-of-profit bill back to him without considering any changes. He cannot do anything more than that.

A bill was passed in the assembly that says 69% reservation is a criteria to be fulfilled in all non-minority private institutions. Previously the restriction used to be just for government institutions. Fucked up politics.

Doctors to call off strike

Resident doctors decided to call off strike to honor Supreme court advice. But the strike will be taken over by Delhi university and other colleges. Engineering college students are supposed to join the strike after their exams during mid of June.

On the 28th of May 2006, at around 9:30 a.m., as the protesters started gathering, the police used threats to disperse the protesters, the banners and other display materials were snatched and threats of usage of lathi and arrests were issued.

People from various background like engineers, doctors, IT professionals, lawyers started gathering there. As the police realised that the threats were not deterring the protesters, they arrested two vans full of protesters who were then taken to Swargate Police Station.

YFE- Pune started contacting various media across the country and also came in touch with YFE in other cities. Youths then gathered at the police station to support their fellow protesters who were arrested. The arrested included medical students, engineering students, IT and IT-related professionals among others.

The arrested were later on released on a personal bond of 7000/- each by the Shivaji Nagar court.

This amount of 7000/- asked from students needs to be collected as soon as possible, various individuals and organizations are requested to come forward and support the Pune movement.

hi ppl i need to clarify 2 many here...

there are 236 castes which are considered backward in tn..
this leavs brahmins and a part of naidus and some other miniscule communities in tn..

the percenatge of brahmins in tn was 11.2%in 1931(caste census mandal)
in 1999 the figure was 1.3%(mostly temple priests)....so please imagine protesting against 99%of the population......
lemme tell u what hap when my frnd and I went to get permissions for the protest..

the assistant commissioner Intelligence services Mr.C.Ilango(IPS) came 2 IIT-M and asked in fact ordered the Dean 2 ask the IIT students not to get involved in the protests......
the same person had a policeman in mufti come and want to search his room inside IIT-M campus in the name of passport verification... in a period of 24 hrs he received 5 death threats saying that if the protests goes as per schedule none of the protesters will return alive........

the inspector of the area in which we were protesting calls up another organiser stating that he will be not held responsible if the pro-reservation protesters attack them.

One more organiser who had a frnd in kerala was called and threatened that if the protests go on the frnd will be beaten 2 death.....(CPI-youth wing i think im not sure).
there are 5 major vernacular channels in TN out of which one came and that 2 rolled for 5 seconds which neither the english nor vernacular channels telecasted...

If u have had these problems but still held your first protest on a weekday(thursday) in the afternoon (3-5pm) when it was raining cats and dogs and still had 250 ppl turn up which included students frm 17 colleges...professionals..one IIt prof...some school students then please comment....
else try to help us by mentioning to news channels and more importantly your friends that chennai 2 has protesters only if they looked hard enough

The media came to cover the protests and also interviewed but it was never telecasted. Dont know how many ppl know chennai had a protest against reservation.
Heard that its very tough in chennai. The organizers of this protest in chennai got death threats. They were all threatened and they said they will beat n kill us if we go for the protest against reservation. Still we all went for the protest.
We dont have the govt backing. N now u all wait for the action on june 4th here.
